Pan de Amerikana is a chess-themed bakery restaurant that serves a budget friendly homey cuisines.
We’ve (my girlfriends and I) been itching to visit the place after we found out that the foods will not punch your wallet to K.O. So right after our enrollment, we found ourselves on the way to Marikina! A spontaneous PDA visit indeed.
The resto’s eye-catching facade. I love how the guests are welcomed by their Netherlands inspired windmill. The whole facade gives me the feel just like the 90’s cartoon, Heidi. I don’t know why but I felt like I am Heidi from the moment I saw the place. *cueHeidi’sOST*
Store hours! I didn’t saw this the moment we entered (captured this photo when we are about to leave the resto) the place so I brought a cake inside and ate it without shame until their staff saw me and said that we are not allowed to do so. Awww. </3
My heart was caught the moment I entered the store.
It’s fascinating how they incorporated the framed pictures of their valued celebrity customers to their theme.
Wooden furnitures, antique tables and chairs, swing, Koi pond, Italian colonnade European ruins, waterfalls, colorful stained glasses, hanging bridge and a life size chess board. The whole interior is truly appealing!
As to their food, I wasn’t able to taste anything except their turon with langka (PHP 25.00) (which I ordered after they stopped me from eating my cake! hmp.) and their mango fruit shake (PHP 45.00) because we had a very heavy meal before going to the resto and there’s no other place for yet another heavy foods in my tummy.
Grace and Hesi ordered Carbonara (PHP60.00) and Pancit Palabok (PHP 40.00) and based on them it was good. Diane ordered a T-Bone steak (not in the picture, but it costs PHP195.00) which she shared to us and boy was it awesome! The meat is tender and is easy to chew.
Hi Grace! :-)
Hesi and I. :-)
Their very quaint and colorful lavatory.
Pan de Amerikana is a non-smoking and an open air restaurant. There are electric fans around but I guess it isn’t advisable to dine here in extreme hot weather condition. If you will, I advice that you bring hankys to wipe off your sweat. Hah! ;-)
And of course, having a chess-themed resto, they have a table in the middle which has the all kinds of chess boards inside. My personal favorite is the Star Wars!
After suffering from the bearable heat, it was refreshing to be in their hanging bridge area!
My girls. ♥ Again, we are not complete. So sad. Next time though.
The famous life-sized chess board.
There’s a couple having their pre-nup shoot when we went there so basically, we are shifting places. Haha! When they’re in the chess board area, we are in the hanging bridge, when they went to the hanging bridge, we had our turn to enjoy the chess board. Haha!
Indeed, Pan de Amerikana is a place to visit! We enjoyed our experience that we promised to be back soon together with our other girlfraans.
How to commute?
From Recto to PDA:
- Take the LRT and alight at either Anonas or Katipunan.
- Ride a Jeepney to SSS Village. Tell the driver to drop you at Puregold beside OLOPSC. (Not Puregold Concepcion)
- From Puregold, you will see an intersection, just walk straight and when you already see a windmill then you’re already there! ;-)
